Researchers at ASU Demonstrate the Foundational Assumption of Radio-Metric Dating is Flawed; Decay Rates Are Not Constant

In an article found on the ASU News and Science page, Nikki Staub reports on new findings at ASU which undermine the reliability of radiometric dating and further support what marginalized creation scientists have reported for years.  She mentions that the,”Lead-lead (Pb-Pb) dating is among the most widely used radiometric dating techniques to determine the age of really old things, such as the age of the Earth or the Solar System.”  And that “ The Pb-Pb dating technique has been used for decades under the assumption that the ratio of the 238U and 235U isotopes, both of which decay to different isotopes of Pb, is constant in the Solar System. This assumed value is built into the Pb-Pb age equation.”

However, now research scientists from ASU have found variations in samples of pb-pb dating of meteorite samples and have reported that,”the 238U/235U ratio can no longer be considered a constant in meteoritic material.”  Staub also reported;

“This variation implies substantial uncertainties in the ages previously determined by Pb-Pb dating of CAIs,” explains Brennecka. “This will likely make U isotope measurements part of the procedure for Pb-Pb dating, as the 238U/235U ratio can no longer be assumed to be invariant.”

It’s a enlightening article, but they won’t tell you that using the isotope method to determine an age from a variety of discordant dates has also proven unreliable… The entire article is available at the URL listed below.
