Some Examples of Watchtower Prophecy

Matthew 24:11
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

“The  ‘time of the end’, a period of one hundred and fifteen years, from A.D. 1799 to A.D.I914 is particularly marked in the Scriptures.” Studies in Scriptures, vol.3, 1891, p.23

“The ‘Battle of the great day of God almighty’, which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth’s present rulership, is already commenced.” The Time is at Hand, 1888, [1911 ed.], p. 101

“The data for the close of that ‘battle’ is definitely marked in the Scripture as October, 1914.” Zion’s Watch Tower, Jan. 15, 1892

” Surely there is not the slightest room for doubt in the mind of a truly consecrated child of God that the Lord Jesus is present and has been since 1874.” The Watchtower, Jan. 1, 1924, p. 5

” The present war in Europe is the beginning of the Armageddon of the Scriptures.” Pastor Russell’s Sermons, 1917 (the war being discussed was WW 1)

” Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of Abraham, Isaac, and the faithful prophets of old.” Millions Now Living Will Never Die, Ruthreford, 1920, p. 88-89

” …thus the end forever of Nazi-fascist hierarchy rule will come, and that will mark the end forever of demon rule.” The Watchtower, Dec. 15, 1941, p. 377

In view of the short time left, a decision to pursue a career in this system of things is not only unwise, but extremely dangerous” Kingdom Ministry, June 1969, p. 3

“Who has God actually used as his prophet? By the historical facts Christendom is beaten back in defeat. Jehovah’s witnesses are deeply grateful today that the plain facts show that God has been pleased to use them.”  The Watchtower, Jan. 15, 1959, p.40-41

The following is another example of WatchTower prophecy…a good question to ask would be, “How many false prophecies make a false prophet?

Times of the Gentiles.                           101

and the living saints, as well as many of the world, are now being used as the Lord’s soldiers in overthrowing errors and evils. But let no one hastily infer a peaceable conversion of the nations to be here symbolized; for many scriptures, Such as Rev. 11:17,18 ; Dan. 12: i; 2 Thes. 2:8; Psalms 149 and 47, teach the very opposite.

Be not surprised, then, when in subsequent chapters we present proofs that the setting up of the Kingdom of God is already begun, that it is pointed out in prophecy as due to begin the exercise of power in A. D. 1878, and that the “battle of the great day of God Almighty” (Rev. 16:14.), which will end in A. D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth’s present rulership, is already commenced. The gathering of the armies is plainly visible from the standpoint of God’s Word.

If our vision be unobstructed by prejudice, when we get the telescope of God’s Word rightly adjusted we may see with clearness the character of many of the events due to take place in the “Day of the Lord”—that we are in the very midst of those events, and that ” the Great Day of His Wrath is come.”

The sword of truth, already sharpened, is to smite every evil system and custom—civil, social and ecclesiastical. Nay, more, we can see that the smiting is commenced: freedom of thought, and human rights, civil and religious, long lost sight of under kings and emperors, popes, synods, councils, traditions and creeds, are being appreciated and asserted as never before. The internal conflict is already fomenting: it will ere long break forth as a consuming fire, and human systems, and errors, which for centuries have fettered truth and oppressed the groaning creation, must melt before it. Yes, truth—and widespread and increasing knowledge of it—is the sword which is perplexing and wounding the heads over many countries. (Psa. no : 6.)

Matthew 24:22-28

22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.25 See, I have told you ahead of time.26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”
