The Science vs. Religion Straw man: Quotes from Authority

“Our teaching methods are primarily those of propaganda. We appeal without demonstration to evidence that supports our position. We introduce only arguments and evidence that supports the currently accepted theories and omit or gloss over any evidence to the contrary.” Mark Singham, Physics Today, vol. 53, June 2000, p.54

“Evolution is promulgated as an ideology, a secular religion- a full-fledged alternative to Christianity,” Michael Ruse, leading philosopher of science who once testified at the Arkansas equal time trial that evolution was science and creation was religion. National Post, May 13, 2000.

“…if you limit a teacher to only one side of anything the whole country will eventually have only one thought, be one individual. I believe in teaching every aspect of every problem or theory.” John Scopes. Scopes Monkey Trial, as quoted in The World of Biology, p.610

“Since science does not have the faintest idea how life on Earth originated…, it would be honest to confess this to other scientists, to grantors, and to the public at large. Prominent scientists speaking ex cathedra, should refrain from polarizing the minds of students and young scientists with statements based solely on beliefs.” Yockey. Journal of Theoretical Biology, vol.91, p.13, 1981

“…And biology is thus in the peculiar position of being a science founded on a unproved theory-is it then a science or a faith? Belief in the theory of evolution is thus exactly parallel to belief in special creation.” L.H. Matthews, introduction to the 1971 edition of The Origin of Species

“Just as pre-Darwinian biology was carried out by people whose faith was in the Creator and His plan, post-Darwinian biology is being carried out by people whose faith is in, almost, the deity of Darwin.” Colin Patterson, senior paleontologist British Museum of Natl. Hist. in The Listener, Leith, p.392,10-8-81

“Evolutionists have worked hard to keep alternative theories of origins out of science classrooms…How interesting, indeed, that evolutionists might think the evidence for creationism is more compelling,,.”

William Provine, evolutionist, Prof, of science and philosophy, Cornell University, Biology and Philosophy, 8:123, p,113

“Our theory of evolution has become…one that cannot be refuted by any observations. Every conceivable observation can be fitted into it. It is thus outside empirical science, but not necessarily false. No one can think of ways to test it. (not so, it has just failed all tests. Ed.) Ideas either without basis or based on a few laboratory experiments carried out in extremely simplified systems have gained currency far beyond their validity. They have become part of a evolutionary dogma accepted by most of us as part of our training.”

Ehrlich and Birch, Nature, 214:352, 1967

That is why the number one evolution indoctrination technique is to call evolution science. Then evolutionists expound always from this presupposition, this way they never have to prove their claims. The evolutionists never talks in plain terms of truth vs error, every topic gets the label science or religion on it.

Absolutely. They use ad hominem attacks and emotional arguments, as well as arguments that only look viable to the uniniated, the power of suggestion, in homology for example. Thanks for the comment.

I find it interesting that evolutionists think that it’s unscientific to question a scientific hypothesis. Hence, their adamant stances on exclusion of intelligent design from scientific curriculums. No one is proposing to teach the book of Genesis in biology classes. What is proposed is falsifying evidence of the dogmas of evolution. The biggest problem in the promotion of Darwinism is exemplified in Mark Singham’s quote… biologists “ignore or gloss over all evidence to the contrary.” That is not a minor weakness. That is scientific fraud.
